A Roar For Help: A plea to Save The Tiger

It is no secret that we are in a world where natural resources are being depleted by the minute and beautiful Mother Nature is suffering. In Mother Nature, you have many creatures that call it home; creatures that are in danger of not being a part of that home. Tigers of Maharashtra are such creatures.

Sudhir Mungantiwar, who acts as the Minister of Forests, Cultural Affairs, Fisheries in the Government of Maharashtrahas has started a campaign to protect tigers of Maharashtra from death. On March 1-3rd the tiger capital of Maharashtra, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserver (or TATR), is hosting the Tadoba Festival to promote the issue at hand. I am and here to support it.

Despite being one of the most iconic and revered animals on the planet, wild tiger populations have been declining precipitously over the past century. I wrote another post about some of the reasons for this but also strategies to fight their endangerment.

I still remember as a young girl, one of my favorite Disney cartoons was The Jungle Book originally from 1967. I absolutely loved Shere Khan. Shere Khan was the coolest character in the whole movie. I always found tigers fascinating creatures. It breaks my heart to hear that tigers have lost an estimated 95% of their historical range of habitat (WWF). They are losing their home. It is absolutely horrifying to hear because losing their home means losing their life in the long run. That is unacceptable, and something needs to be done to change that.

Conserving tigers is not a task that any single entity can accomplish alone. It requires collaboration and partnership among governments, NGOs, local communities, and the public. It requires kindhearted and morally sound human beings coming together and defending these creatures from evildoers such as smugglers and companies that use the life of a tiger for financial gain. International cooperation is also vital, as tigers inhabit landscapes that span multiple countries. By pooling resources, sharing knowledge, and coordinating efforts, we can maximize our impact and increase the likelihood of success.

Despite the challenges, there is reason for hope. Conservation initiatives around the world have shown that with dedication, innovation, and collective action, we can make a difference. I am here to make a change. If you are not, I am asking you to join me. Even a small contribution such as a small donation to a charity organization that has dedicated their lives to protect these animals will do more good than harm.

The fate of tigers hangs in the balance, but it is not too late to turn the tide. By working together, we can ensure that future generations continue to marvel at the sight of these striped wonders roaming freely in the wild. Let us join forces to protect tigers and preserve one of the most beautiful creatures on this planet we all call home.
