The makeup-free round in the @missenglandlimited competition has sparked both praise and debate. On one hand, it promotes a powerful message of self-acceptance. Encouraging contestants to embrace their natural beauty. It provides a refreshing opportunity to celebrate individuality and authenticity. Highlighting that confidence comes from within and beauty contests has evolved so much. I believe we honour the tradition and embrace the glitz and glamour of these competitions, but on our own terms✨ However, critics argue that it may unintentionally add pressure by placing a new standard on what “natural” beauty should look like. Potentially alienating those who rely on makeup as a form of self-expression. While the round aims to shift the focus from appearance to inner strength, its reception highlights the ongoing complexity of redefining beauty in modern pageantry. When I entered the Miss England competition, I personally embraced the barefaced round in the competition. As I spend most of my time surfing and make up free, it felt good to be accepted just being ME. I hope the round encourages any girl to know they are beautiful. Beauty comes in many forms. However, if you love make up, that is your choice and you should be allowed to express yourself. I am keen to know your thoughts on this subject, that has sparked a national debate.
