The Miss World Opening Ceremony featured 500 costumed performers and a "Parade of Spectacular Floats" as 100,00 people welcomed the 67th Miss World Nations at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom on October 31st.

The Miss World 2017 Final Show set was designed by Beijing Rise whose design credits include the Beijing Olympic Games and Eurovision Song Contest.

Head-to-Head:

The Head to Head Challenge was a new edition to the Miss World Festival in 2017. Contestants were divided into 20 Head to Head Challenge groups, selected by random draw, to compete for a spot in the Miss World Top 40. The viewers at home had the chance to vote for their favourite contestant in each group.

Group 1: Angola, Guadeloupe, Georgia, Austria, Italy & Bahamas. WINNER - Italy

Group 2: Argentina, Bolivia, Israel, Cote d'Ivoire, Mauritius & Albania. WINNER - Argentina

Group 3: Cameroon, Madagascar, Guinea, Chile, Nepal & Belgium. WINNER -Nepal

Top Model

118 contestants modelled beautiful gowns made by designers from around the world and what a great way to showcase them but at the Miss World Fashion show, held at the Phoenix Island Resort, Sanya.

Top Model Award and a fast track through to the Top 40 was awarded to Nigeria who stood out amongst all the talented contestants.

2nd place - Thailand

3rd place - Croatia

4th place - PR China

Congratulations Nigeria!

Designer Dress Award was won by Indonesia for the beautiful dress made by 'Melta Tan'.

Sports

The contestants arrived at the Sanya Ocean Sonic Banling Hotspring Resort, where they were whisked through to an area of the resort which was a perfect location for the Miss World Sports Day Challenge. A large open space surrounded by beautiful greenery and a large swimming pool ideal for the swimming heat!!!

The challenge started with a basic fitness test that each contestant took part in. This allowed an opportunity to find the top 8 fittest girls of each group.

Red Team was represented by: British Virgin Islands, Bahamas, South Africa, Jamaica, Italy, Argentina, Guinea and Cook Islands.

Yellow Team was represented by: Romania, Mongolia, Dominican Republic, Singapore, Netherlands, Kenya, Aruba and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Blue Team was represented by: Scotland, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Spain and Poland.

The final heat of the Miss World Sports Challenge was the swimming race. A memorable moment was when Kenya struggled in the water when all of a sudden Fiji jumped into the swimming pool and helped Kenya to complete her swim. Everyone cheered them both on.

Winner: Dominican Republic

2nd place: Cook Islands

3rd place: British Virgin Islands
