The contestants began to arrive in Bali through the refurbished Ngurah Rai International Airport. In their first week, the contestants stayed at the gorgeous Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali. The contestants were introduced with Indonesian culture, food, and breathtaking natural landscapes.

On September 8, the 63rd Miss World Festival was officially opened with a spectacular ceremony at The Westin Resort - Nusa Dua, Bali. The show started with the world famous kecak dance, performed by 150 Balinese dancers and choreographed by I Ketut Rina. The show continued with the contestants graciously walking on stage wearing dresses by Indonesian designers. The 120 minute show also highlighted 16 selected contestants performing Tari Kipas Cendana, a specially choreographed dance that combines the dances from West and Central Java with Balinese elements.

The 23rd September was Beauty with a Purpose Day, a whole day celebrating the achievements across the planet of everybody involved in Beauty with a Purpose. The contestants were given the chance to speak to the press and utilize their social media outlets to explain the projects that they have been working on, how they got involved, what they have achieved and why they chose their specific causes.

Contestants took part in an environmental conservation effort by releasing newly-hatched sea turtles at The Westin Resort - Nusa Dua, Bali. The turtles were hatched at the Turtle Conservation & Education Centre. During the ceremony, the turtles were blessed by a priest, wishing them a long life and survival into the wild.

Held at the Mangupura Hall, Bali International Convention Center, the Top Model event featured the designs of 48 of Indonesia’s leading designers, with the contestants taking to the catwalk showcasing these designs. It was also a time for the contestants World Fashion Designer outfits to be displayed, with each nation representing the distinctive cultural differences of their nations fashions.

Several audition stages took place, with some truly wonderful performances put on by the contestants. The judges had the task of narrowing the field down to a select few for the Talent Final, which took place on 22nd September.

The 12 finalists were split into three distinct groups:

Singers - Australia, British Virgin Islands, Indonesia, Ukraine & Wales

Dancers - Canada, Dominica, Hong Kong China & Panama

Musicians - Cameroon, Slovakia & Trinidad & Tobago

Vania’s flawless rendition of ‘A Question of Honour’, sung in an operatic style with a modern twist. Every one of the contestants should be proud of their performances, with each individual showing off their dazzling skills.

Hosted by Mr World 2010 Kamal Ibrahim, the event started with Wales singing ‘On My Own’ from the musical Les Miserables. Receiving a standing ovation she was followed by Canada with a contemporary dance performance. The judges awarded her 5th place in the competition, the highest place of all of the dancers on show tonight.

Cameroon was the first musician on stage, bringing a joyous atmosphere with her, putting a smile on everyone’s face with her vibrant Cameroon inspired drum and dance performance.

Australia was the second singer of the night, singing another musical number ‘Someone Luke You’ from Jeckyl and Hyde. No stranger to the stage, Erin enthused about her love for singing after her piece, with Kamal mentioning that she has even performed at the Sydney Opera house. A career on stage surely beckons this talented young lady, who received 2nd place.

Flexible Hong Kong China was the next performer, who displayed a Chinese traditional dance with a contemporary feel. Bending over backwards to please the judges, she was on form, but sadly did not make the top five.

Slovakia added a classical twist, performing the theme from the film Schindler’s List on the violin, and she should be proud of her wonderful performance.

Ukraine wrote and performed her own song, ‘Moment of Glory’. Singing in her native tongue, she had the audience clapping along to the chorus, and was announced the third place winner after the judges had made their decision.

Dominica was the 8th performer of the night, who chose to display her highly technical ballet ‘en pointe’. One of the most technical styles of Ballet, Dominica showed why she was chosen for the top 12, and seemed to really enjoy performing for the judges and the audience, who applauded her when her performance came to a close.

The third and final musician was Trinidad & Tobago. Playing the steel drums, she brought a wonderful Caribbean feel to this already multicultural affair, and hit every note perfectly. Speaking to Kamal afterwards, she went on to talk about the various competitions and events she performs at in her native lands.

The eventual winner was next up, and Indonesia's performance was simply immaculate. Hitting every high note flawlessly, and showing a great range in her vocal skills, she really showed why at the age of only 14 she won Indonesia’s Got Talent, and was again announced winner of Miss World Talent.

Panama was the second Ballet performer, with a more contemporary feel. With graceful leaps and spins, she showed impeccable balance, and was yet another example of this year’s talented contestants.

The final performance of the night was British Virgin Islands, who took to the stage to perform a rendition of Alexandra Burke’s interpretation of Hallelujah. A powerful singer, Kirtis claimed 4th place this evening, and she was the perfect ending to a perfect talent competition. Her singing was moving, full of the emotion that inspired the original song.

The contestants were divided into four groups and were asked to perform four physical fitness exercises for 30 seconds each. The judges then assessed the top four from each group to go on the Sport’s Final Round.

The final round of the sports event was done where finalists faced four challenges: Volleyball Tournament, Traditional Indonesian Plank Race, The Water-bucket Challenge and Tug-of-War. In addition to performance points, the finalists were scored for their enthusiasm, spirit, as well as their songs and chants they made to cheer their team. The winner was announced at the final.

The Multimedia Day was held with contestants divided into two groups that got to explore the one and only Safari park in Bali, on September 12 and 13. In the first group, 65 contestants, Miss World 2012 Wenxia Yu, and the chairman of Miss World Limited, Julia Morley, were greeted with flowers and the Safari Holiday welcome drink. It was a chance to see some of the world’s most majestic creatures, but also where a major part of the Multimedia Award was based, with each contestant presenting to camera with a message based on their days’ exploration.

The contestants underwent the Beach Fashion Elimination Stage in two rounds. In the preliminary round, the contestants demonstrated hot to tie sarong in 125 possible ways by the resort poolside.

The 11 Finalists of the Beach Beauty Fashion Challenge were taken to a secluded beach on the shores of Bali for an exclusive photoshoot as part of the Beach Fashion Final.
