For the third year, Miss World returned to the tropical gateway to China, Sanya.

In 2005 the Miss World Finalists were split into 6 zones; Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, Caribbean, Northern Europe & Southern Europe. In the “Miss World Vote for Me” shows, viewers voted for their favourite contestant. The two contestants from each zone with the highest score went through to the next stage of the final. These 12 finalists were joined by the three fast-track event winners. The panel of judges chose the top 6 contestants to go through to the final.

Winner - Korea

The 2005 Beauty with a Purpose Award was presented to Korea's Oh Eun-young at the 55th Miss World Final in Sanya, China. She was recognised for her volunteer work in a nursing home and caring for children, as well as in support of the Dorcas Welfare Mission, the Dobong Women's Center and Korea Food for the Hungry International.

The city of Guangzhou was the location of the 2010 Talent Show. In front of a panel of judges, the contestants put on a stunning play, showing off a huge variety of their skills. There were five categories, with the winner being fast tracked into the top 15. Here are the five category winners:

Best Musician - Japan - Violin

Best Original Act - Italy - Roller skating

Best Dancer - Czech Republic

Best Traditional Dancer - Canada

Best Singer - American Virgin Islands

Winner - American Virgin Islands

The event began with all the regions cheering on their team mates. With the adrenaline pumping hard, it was into the first event, the circuit training challenges - three minutes of gruelling fitness tests.

After the first event, Asia Pacific claimed a narrow lead. Next up the long jump - tremendous jumps by Miss New Zealand and Miss Jamaica kept the results close but it was Asia Pacific still leading as the competition headed for the pool.

A series of punishing freestyle sprints, handed with some amazing finishes and pushed the teams even closer in the rankings.

After three events the competitors were really starting to feel the strain but every team was still desperate to win.

In the first running heat, Miss Tanzania set a tough target to beat. In the end it was Miss Barbados who displayed one of the best performances of the day, to ensure it was the Caribbean who took the sprint event.

As the competition drew to a close, it still wasn’t clear which continent had won..

The ballroom at the exclusive Sheraton Sanya Resort, was transformed into a glittering fashion cat walk. In front of a capacity crowd, the 102 contestants strudded their stuff to impress the panel of judges. The judges agreed on the 19 girls that made it to the next round. The semi-finalists changed into a second outfit from the Miss World beachwear range, while the remaining girls joined friends and family in the audience. Narrowing the competition down was never going to be easy and after much deliberation the judges settled on a top 5.
