Discovering the wonders of the enchantment island, making new friends for life

A second week started, and everything kept going better. We were split into teams ( mine was blue … Go Blue Team!!) , so I had the chance to relate with wonderful women from different backgrounds and continents, and that is what I will treasure most inside me: to share an entire month with a 100 women from all the places is one thing that you could may be experience at the Olympics… or here, at Miss World. May be all we have some different manners and may be some differences in the way we face our daily routine, but at the end of the day you realize that all of us are empowered woman with an extraordinary intelligence, beauty and a will to help others to make this world a better place. That is our scent and that is what finally joined us together.

A concentration and a competition was going on. So every day the Miss World organization surprised us with all types of activities, where we could get in touch with the culture and people, and have some fun too. We visited the Casablanca Museum at Old San Juan, the oldest building and a sample of the Spanish influence in the Island. We had a catamaran ride around the shores of San Juan. We experienced a Carnival , where Boriquas showed that spontaneity and joy that it’s present at every moment. And we also visited the Malaguez Stadium, where the sports competition was held. We also auditioned for our talents and top model competition, both activities I wanted to be at.

The talent audition was special for me. After many years of practice, Miss World has been the most important scenery I’ve performed at. I was nervous, but ballet is the way I express myself, and I did it with my heart and soul. For the top model competition I had the honor to use two spectacular dresses: one from the Chilean designer Eduardo de la Cerda and other made by the famous Boricua designer  Although I was a bit anxious, thanks God I could handle both competitions well.

When you travel abroad, a must is to experience local food. To taste new flavors is a good way to get in touch with the culture. And the Miss World organization had a blast on that… they arranged everything so we could have the opportunity to taste a lot from the island’s gastronomy. Mofongo… I love it !!!! Is there anyone that can teach me how to make  home made one?
