Miss World Cayman Islands 2021, Rashana Hydes has dedicated her Beauty with a Purpose project to mental health advocacy. Rashana works with the organisation Loud Silent Voices, a Mental Health Support Group for families and caregivers of those affected by mental illness.

Rashana has been fundraising to create an assisted living facility, which will be a safe place for those with mental illness. The Mental Health Group Home, the first of its kind in the Cayman Islands, was opened on Saturday 10th July in West Bay.

The facility is an eight-bedroom community group home with a full time nurse where mental health clients can receive care and support towards independent living. As well as providing a supportive physical space for clients, it will also support families in need.

The grand opening of the facility was attended MPs including HE The Governor, Martyn Roper, Premier Wayne Panton, Ministers and Parliamentary secretaries. HE The Governor has committed the government to do more to reduce the stigma around mental health and ensure it is a top priority.

Rashana continues to raise funds to support the facility and for resources and training for both caregivers and patients.

Congratulations Rashana for the brilliant work you are doing for such an important cause.
