"Be the change you wish to see in the world" - Mahatma Gandhi
On day 2, we visited the Gandhi Memorial.
Gandhi Memorial at Raj Ghat is a serene and elegant memorial dedicated to the Father of the Nation India - Shri. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi also known as Mahatma Gandhi - Mahatma meaning sage or holy person or person regarded with love and respect.
It is located at the banks of River Yamuna, a tributary of the Ganges (the holy river of India) and is India's longest tributary originating from the Yamunotri glacier of the lower Himalayan Mountain range.
The Mahatma is known worldwide for "Ahimsa" which is advocated by Indian religions - meaning respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others. Peaceful expressions of opinions, equality and humanitarian values were at the core of India's beloved leader.
It was such an honor and full circle moment to visit the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, who first uttered the phrase I now live by - be the change.
