Behind the scenes of the @missworld opening ceremonies. Tonight, I wear my regalia with pride, honouring my roots and my ancestors. Pinned to my outfit is a beaded orange shirt pin, a powerful symbol of remembrance. In Canada, Indigenous peoples continue to live with the intergenerational trauma caused by the Residential School system, which sought to erase our cultures, languages, and identities. Thousands of children never returned home. This pin was given to me by my grandmother, a survivor of those schools. Her brother and sister never made it back. This truth lives close within my family. I wear this orange shirt for them. Because every child matters. Every story matters. And tonight, we are still here, still rising.🪶🧡 #everychildmatters
