Tonight marked the opening ceremonies of the 72nd Miss World Festival and I’m deeply honoured to have walked in as the first Indigenous woman in history to represent Canada at @missworld. I wore my traditional fancy shawl regalia, a piece I designed and sewed myself. It took years to develop the skills to create this shawl, and months of preparation and dedication to bring it to life. To stand on the world stage in my regalia is more than a moment, it’s a message. A message of Indigenous strength, culture, and beauty. Thank you, Creator, for blessing me with this path.
