Miss World Canada and Miss England Unite To Empower Women Through EducationmoreVideos

Miss World Canada 2020, Svetlana Mamaeva, and Miss England 2021, Rehema Muthamia, instantly connected when they met during the interviews held by Banco Popular at Miss World 2021.

Svetlana is an advocate for financial empowerment who is helping women overcome financial abuse, whereas Rehema is supporting women who are recovering from domestic abuse.

Financial abuse and domestic abuse are closely related: 95% of women who experience domestic abuse also experience economic abuse. These issues became significantly worse during the pandemic, so Svetlana and Rehema decided to join forces to better support women during these challenging times.

On Wednesday, February 23, Svetlana and Rehema offered a joint workshop for Kerby Centre in Calgary, Alberta. In addition, the ladies hosted an Instagram Live on March 1, 2022 to continue raising awareness about the issue of financial and domestic abuse. They discussed the red flags, tactics for overcoming these problems and resources for help.

Marissa Miller from Kerby Center shares, “Thank you so much for the presentation! We ended up having more women join the workshop and it was really appreciated. I am sure that they gained great knowledge and skills from you as usual! We also really appreciated the participation of Miss England and the wonderful information she had to share.”

A big thank you to Miss England for this collaboration!
