Miss World Canada 2020, Svetlana Mamaeva, was interviewed by the largest bank in Puerto Rico, Banco Popular, about her Beauty with a Purpose project, FinPowered. The interview covered the importance of educating women financially, causes of the education gap, and steps to help women feel more confident when making financial decisions.
Svetlana graduated with an honours degree in finance and received an award for being the Top 10% in Canada in personal banking. While working at the bank, she saw the need for improved financial education for women. She launched FinPowered, where she provides free workshops and shares her knowledge on budgeting, saving, managing debt, and overcoming financial abuse.
With many women around the world struggling financially in the face of the pandemic, Svetlana’s goal is to expand FinPowered internationally to offer free workshops beyond Canada, including Puerto Rico.
