Nisa Homes is a Canadian non-profit providing housing and support services for women, who are fleeing domestic abuse. With multiple shelter locations across the country, they have helped hundreds of women and their children recover from trauma.
FinPowered has facilitated over a dozen free financial education workshops for Nisa Homes, most recently providing five seminars in February 2022. Shelter residents participated in the group sessions, as well as FinPowered’s intensive program, which gave them the tools and knowledge to feel more financially empowered. They learned about managing debt, budgeting, saving, and overcoming financial abuse.
“Nisa Homes has been one of the biggest supporters of FinPowered and I look forward to continuing our work together," shared Miss World Canada 2020, Svetlana Mamaeva. "It has been amazing seeing these women gain more confidence, ask questions and build trust, as they start over."
