Homes First is one of the largest non-profit housing providers in Toronto, offering shelter and support services to more than 1,500 seniors, families, and adults every day.
Svetlana started at Kennedy Road Women’s Shelter (one of Homes First shelters) in the summer of 2020, and has provided over 20 free financial workshops for their numerous locations since then.
“I am very grateful for the partnership with Homes First, and the support they have shown me since the launch of my program," shared Svetlana. "I ran my very first FinPowered workshop with them, and I still remember how nervous I was before the presentation. After the workshop ended, the manager at the shelter, who was also in attendance, called me and said, “Clearly, you’ve been doing this for a while!” This was the biggest compliment, considering it was my very first workshop and I was very nervous during my preparation. Following this first workshop, Homes First continued being a big supporter of FinPowered and gave me the opportunity to run workshops at many of their shelter locations across Toronto, which I am very grateful for!”
