During my journey with Miss World, I've had the privilege of engaging in various activities that underscore the importance of community and empowerment. However, one of the most impactful experiences I've had so far was my visit to Than Singh Ki Pathshala, a school for impoverished children nestled beside the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi.
Than Singh Ki Pathshala is not just any school. It was founded by a local police officer and is run with the dedication and passion of many volunteers who believe in making a difference in these children's lives. Among these volunteers is Laboni, a 19-year-old student studying international relations. Laboni's commitment to teaching English to the kids several times a week is not just about language lessons; it's about opening doors to new opportunities and broadening their horizons.
The highlight of my visit was an activity that was as simple as it was profound: decorating kites. But these were no ordinary kites. Each one was a canvas for the children to write down their dreams, transforming each kite into a symbol of hope and aspiration. As we released the kites into the sky, it felt like we were sending their dreams soaring, a visual reminder that no dream is too big and that every child deserves the chance to chase theirs.
This experience was a powerful reminder of the core values of Miss World—community engagement, empowerment, and making a tangible difference in the lives of others. It was incredibly moving to see the joy and excitement in the children's eyes as their kites—and dreams—took flight. It reinforced my belief in the importance of giving back and using our platforms to advocate for those who may not have a voice.
