Miss world tour- The El Yunque Rainforest
Did you know that the only tropical rainforest in the whole US forest national Service system is called the El Yunque rainforest and found in Puerto Rico?
This rainforest is known for its biodiversity nature thereby serving as a home for more than 400 different plant species. It serves not only as a home for plants but a recreational area providing trails for hiking, picnic pavillons, stone towers, rivers.
Visiting the forest with my miss world sisters was such a fun moment for us as we got to discover Puerto Rico and it’s geographical enrichments.
The reception was so warm and we had a tour guide taking us through and being very patient with us so we could learn about this beautiful place.
I was able to learn about some animals found at the El Yunque rainforest like the « Coqui frog » found only on the island.
The view and waterfalls are absolutely stunning and you could find some swimming areas in some of the waterfalls.
Thé El Yunque is known for its best water quality in the whole of Puerto Rico and because it is a mountainous rainforest, there are a lot of rivers, creeks and streams crossing the rains forest.
We were also able to see the Britton Tower and even though some of us didn’t get the chance to go to the top, the experience was worthwhile with the different fauna and flora species.
The El Yunque rainforest reminds me a lot of my country Cameroon commonly known as « Africa in miniature » as we are a tropical country with a lot of diversity. Seeing this place was so interesting and fun but most of all made me feel at home.
At some point of our little field trip, it started to rain and we had to return to our Coaches.
To make this experience worthwhile like it was for myself and my sisters, remember to have very comfortable shoes on and bring an umbrella with you because it is an all round tropical rainforest.
