Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, received Aché Abrahams, Trinidad and Tobago’s reigning Miss World Caribbean. Ms. Abrahams was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Camille Selvon Abrahams. During the Courtesy Call, Abrahams informed that she has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), by the civil society initiative with the same title, which supports the advancement of people of African descent. Aché is being recognized for her contribution to mental health in the community. Mrs. Selvon Abrahams was similarly recognized by the organization in 2022. In support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by United Nation's General Assembly resolution 68/237 and to be observed from 2015 to 2024, the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) identifies high achievers of African descent in public and private sectors from all around the world as a progressive network of relevant actors to join together in the spirit of recognition, justice and development of Africa, it's people on the continent and across it's Diaspora. "Our Miss World Caribbean Aché Abrahams came to inform me that she has been selected as one of the 100 Most Influential Persons of African Descent for 2024. She also presented me with a book that she has thoughtfully authored to help guide children and youths. Absolutely inspiring!", said the proud Minister. Aché took the opportunity to present the Minister with a copy of her book Let’s Talk About Feelings.
