Anna-Lise Nanton, a geotechnical engineer who represented her hometown of Paxvale, Santa Cruz, came into the final night of the Miss World T&T competition as the winner of the Fitness, People’s Choice, and Talent categories. She was also composed under pressure, when she tackled Judge Angelique Bart’s question on euthanasia and whether more counties should amend their laws to allow it. Making sure to mention that it is a complicated topic, Nanton stated that no one has a right to make such a decision for others and that it should be personal. Even then, she said, it should be an educated decision, not coerced.
