Sri Lanka and India have been friendly countries since ancient times. The greatest gift that Sri Lanka received from India was Buddhism and the culture that was created around it. Our two countries are very close because of food, clothing, cricket, and cinema. That closeness is further enhanced this time through the representation of Anudi Gunasekara on stage of Miss Wold. We Sri Lankans came to India to visit Budhdha Gaya and Tirupati, buy clothes, university education and for health care. But Anudi Gunasekara showed us the beauty of India from the Miss World stage. My family and I are very eager to come and see the beauty of Telangana as soon as possible. Thank you Miss Sri Lanka. And may you find the strength to fight against period poverty in Sri Lanka!
