“ආරෝග්යා පරමා ලාභා” (Arogya Parama Labha) As the Lord Buddha proclaimed in the Dhammapada of the Khuddaka Nikaya, the greatest wealth a human being can possess is good health. While health can be defined in many ways, menstrual health remains one of the most neglected aspects. That is why Saheli is committed to ensuring that menstrual health is taken seriously and that no community is left behind, including women in religious communities. Though we may walk different paths in life, as women we all experience menstruation, and we all deserve to do so with dignity and comfort. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Saheli, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of APIIT @apiit_rotaract, visited the Mahamaya Pirivena in Gampola to support the female monastic community. As part of our commitment to sustainable solutions, we donated reusable sanitary napkins, an eco friendly and long term alternative to disposable products. Additionally, we provided essential dry rations to help ensure they have the necessities for a comfortable daily life. Through initiatives like these, we strive to break the silence surrounding menstrual health, foster inclusivity, and uphold the well being of all women, regardless of their background.
