Oriental dance or Belly Dance is a Middle Eastern dance that originated in Egypt, which features movements of the hips and torso. "Belly dance" is a translation of the French term danse du ventre. The first known use of the term "Belly Dance" in English is in reference to the Middle Eastern dancers who performed at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889. Initialy, this traditional dance is originated in the Middle East, particularly in Egypt, Turkey, India but it has spread to many other countries over time, including Morocco. In Morocco, oriental dance has been influenced by a variety of cultural and historical factors. It is a mix of Arab, Berber, and African cultural influences, as well as a history of trade and exchange with other countries in the region.
