Johanne HANSEN - Beauty with a Purpose Denmark_BWAP World - uden tekst Miss World Denmark 2023, Johanne Grundt Hansen spreads awareness of plastic pollution Every year around 8 tonnes of plastic waste is discarded into the world's oceans. Overtime this plastic is broken down into smaller and smaller pieces and eventually becomes microplastics. Microplastics are pollutant and can be harmful to the environment and animal health. When in the ocean they can absorb other harmful chemicals before being ingested by marine life. They are then consumed by humans when they eat fish and seafood. This major problem passion of Miss World Denmark 2023. Johanne Grundt Hansen and the motive of her Beauty with a Purpose project, A World Without Plastic Pollution. Johanne has become an ambassador for the Danish nvironmental organization Plastic Change, which has won the International Environmental Award for documentation and research in plastic pollution and its sources. As part of her project, Johanne regularly organises plastic clean-ups with hiking quilds and diving clubs around Denmark. These plastic clean ups also help to spread awareness of plastic pollution and how much ends up in the environment Johanne plans to expand the project by holding eve larger plastic clean ups in the future and to make more people think about their plastic consumption. She ain to end the use of single use plastic in favour of more sustainable products, packaging and materials.
