-Beauty With A Purpose Project- (SAHELI-The best friend) "Saheli” is not just a project; it addresses a very pressing issue that is often overlooked in a developing country like Sri Lanka. As a woman, I would like to thank our country’s contestant, Miss Anudi Gunasekara, for shedding light on a social issue that deserves attention—especially at a time when the focus is heavily on national development.

It is heartening to see that the primary focus of this project is on young girls and women living in difficult and remote villages, rather than just the well-known cities. These small villages often do not receive the attention they deserve. The expansion of “Saheli” will allow Anudi to address this issue to some extent—not only by providing essential sanitary products, but also by educating women of all age groups about menstrual health.

What’s special about this initiative is that she has partnered with the Selyn company to produce reusable sanitary napkins. There is no doubt that this is a great support for underprivileged individuals who are struggling with economic hardships.
It is clear that this is a very cost-effective and eco-friendly solution, as these reusable sanitary pads can be used for many years and, once disposed of, they do not remain non-biodegradable in the environment.
As a country, we are grateful to her for raising awareness both nationally and globally about a timely issue that has long been overlooked. She has already become a true queen in the eyes of women facing period poverty. She didn’t just change periods. She changed lives. The queen she is! I wish her all the success in her endeavors.💜 @missworld @missworldsrilanka @anudigunasekara #missworld #AnudiGunasekaraForMissWorld #BeautyWithAPurpose
