Over the past month, contestants engaged in rigorous challenges, including sports challenge, talent showcase, head to head challenge and top model competition. The red carpet event begins at 5:30 pm on May 31, followed by the much-anticipated coronation gala at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad.1y
Miss WorldAnudi Gunasekara, born on November 7, 1999, in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, is a distinguished model, social activist, and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2024. Her journey is marked by academic excellence, a commitment to social causes, and a passion for empowering women. 
🎓 Early Life and Education
Anudi’s formative years were spent in her hometown of Anuradhapura, where she attended Anuradhapura Central College. Demonstrating a keen interest in global affairs, she pursued higher education at the University of Kelaniya, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in International Studies. Her academic background has been instrumental in shaping her worldview and advocacy efforts. 
👑 Pageant Career
Anudi’s foray into pageantry culminated in her being crowned Siyatha Miss World Sri Lanka 2024 during a grand ceremony held on July 29, 2024, at the Hilton Grand Ballroom in Colombo. In addition to the main title, she was honored with the “Most Popular” and “Best in Evening Wear” awards, reflecting her widespread appeal and elegance.  
Her victory has paved the way for her to represent Sri Lanka at the 72nd Miss World Festival, scheduled to take place in Hyderabad, India, in early 2025. 
💡 Advocacy and Social Initiatives
Central to Anudi’s mission is her dedication to addressing period poverty in Sri Lanka. She is the founder of “Saheli,” a non-profit organization committed to:  
• Donations: Providing sanitary products to women in need. 
• Sanitation Facilities: Improving access to clean water and washroom facilities in schools and vulnerable communities. 
• Awareness: Conducting educational programs on menstrual hygiene, menopause, and postpartum menstruation to break societal taboos. 
Through “Saheli,” Anudi aims to empower women by ensuring they have the necessary resources and knowledge to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
