If a dress could speak, this one would tell the story of where I’m from — and where I’m going.
I designed and made this gown myself, pouring into it my love of Scotland, of craftsmanship, and of storytelling. The bodice is weathered Stuart Hunting tartan, gifted by Glen Isla Kilts — its muted greens, greys and ochre tones speak of our rugged Highlands and quiet strength. The moss green satin skirt flows like our glens, grounded and proud.
I used wild Scottish florals, thistles and wheaten grasses, as well as Gypsophila to embellish the bodice and my tartan headpiece. A Dupatta will drape from my neck in a respectful nod to India, our generous host.
I made this not just to wear something beautiful — but to carry my heritage like a Highland Warrior queen, standing tall with strength, dignity and grace.1y Miss World Miss World Miss World Our visit to the Telangana Police Headquarters was one of my favourite experiences of my Miss World journey so far.
As someone from a proud three-generation police family, I felt a deep emotional connection throughout the day. We were welcomed not only with incredible warmth, but with the stirring sound of a pipe band - playing Scotland’s national instrument, the bagpipes, and wearing immaculate white uniform and tartan plaids. Thousands of miles from home, I was overwhelmed with pride in my Scottish roots and moved by the shared values of duty, honour, and community that unite us globally.
Inside, we saw first-hand the Telangana Police’s world-class approach to public safety — a powerful blend of innovation, technology, and humanity. Their commitment to women’s safety especially stood out: from women-only public transport to dedicated helplines, and an inspiring presence of female officers protecting their communities.
This visit was deeply personal for me. My grand-father served 26 years as a police officer, while my mother served over 30 years, becoming one of the first women in Scotland to return to policing after giving birth - at a time when this was heavily discouraged. She went on to rise through the ranks to become of Scotland’s highest-ranking officers, Assistant Chief Constable, all while raising five children. Her journey reminds me every day that women can do anything, and strength and compassion are not opposites - they are partners.
We ended the day at the Telangana Secretariat with a beautiful ceremony, high tea, and a breathtaking drone show telling the story of Telangana in lights across the sky.
