St. George’s Street in Morant Bay to be rename as Toni-Ann Singh Street, in tribute to the 69th Miss World

The St. Thomas Municipal Corporation has approved a resolution to rename St. George’s Street in Morant Bay as Toni-Ann Singh Street, in tribute to the former Miss World who was born and raised in the parish.

The motion was moved by Mayor Louis Chin during the Corporation’s monthly meeting. Acting CEO Kemeala Esson described Singh as “a proud daughter of St. Thomas” whose achievements have brought international recognition to the parish.

The resolution will now be submitted to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development for gazetting, the final step to make the name change official.

Singh, who won the Miss World 2019 crown, becoming the 4th Jamaican woman to win the blue crown, is a talented singer who’s celebrated as one of Jamaica’s most prominent cultural ambassadors.

You deserve it, Tony-Ann!
