The reigning Miss World, Opal Suchata, accompanied by Miss UK, Millie-Mae Adams, spent last Sunday’s morning (26.10) at Hope Rescue in Wales, meeting several of the shelter’s rescued dogs who are waiting for a home.

Every dog at Hope Rescue has a story: some were abandoned, others mistreated, and many simply misunderstood. Through its mission, the organization provides love, safety, and a second chance to animals in need.

Statistics show that during the pandemic years, many people adopted or bought pets to avoid loneliness. Sadly, once life returned to normal, several of those animals were abandoned, leading to a sharp increase in the number of homeless dogs and cats across the UK and beyond.

During her visit, Opal encouraged people to choose adoption over buying pets, emphasizing that rescue dogs are not broken, but resilient, loyal, and full of love. “Buying dogs fuels demand while thousands sit in shelters waiting to be seen,” she noted and continued:

“As someone who shares my home with several rescued dogs and cats, I know the joy and unconditional love they bring,” said Miss World Opal Suchata. “If you’re thinking about adding a new member to your family, please consider adoption; you might just find your best friend waiting for you.”
