Beauty With a Purpose initiative in Uganda reaches hundreds of girls while addressing stigma and access

Miss World Uganda, Trivia Elle Muhoza, has continued her nationwide Beauty With a Purpose project, visiting multiple communities across Kabale and Rubanda districts to promote menstrual health education and support for young girls.
Through a series of visits to villages including Rwemihanga, Kiruruma, and Nyakihanda, Muhoza has reached hundreds of girls, combining education with the distribution of reusable sanitary pads. More than 200 girls directly benefited from product distribution, while many others took part in open discussions focused on menstrual hygiene, confidence, and self-care.
Working alongside the organization The Wells of Life, the initiative has focused on breaking long-standing taboos around menstruation by encouraging open dialogue and practical learning. Sessions included demonstrations on the proper use of reusable sanitary products, as well as conversations aimed at building confidence and reducing stigma.
At Kahungye Primary School and other community centers, Muhoza emphasized the importance of keeping girls in school by ensuring they can manage their menstrual health safely and with dignity. The program also highlighted access to menstrual education as a key factor in empowering young women and supporting their long-term development.
The mission concluded with visits to local support services, including organizations addressing broader social challenges such as domestic vulnerability and access to essential resources. Donations contributed to ongoing community support efforts, including hardship funds for women in need.
“We encouraged the girls to believe in themselves, speak confidently and embrace their dreams without fear. We also taught them how to properly use reusable sanitary pads, helping them manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence”, said the reigning Miss World Uganda.
The Miss Uganda Foundation said the initiative reflects its commitment to ensuring that no girl is left behind due to lack of access to menstrual health education or products, while reinforcing the role of Beauty With a Purpose in driving meaningful, community-based impact.
Trivia Elle Muhoza will be in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, representing Uganda at the 75th Anniversary Edition of Miss World.
