Miss World Nepal has been working on an integrated initiative empowering women, expanding healthcare access, and creating safer learning environments for children in underserved communities.
Through a deeply integrated Beauty With a Purpose initiative, Luna Luitel is leading a multi-layered project aimed at restoring dignity, access, and opportunity for an disadvantaged community in Nepal.
Luna’s project connects economic empowerment, healthcare access, and education into a single, sustainable vision of community development.
The first pillar focuses on women’s empowerment and environmental sustainability. Local women are being equipped with a biodegradable Duna Tapari (leaf plate) machine, enabling them to generate sustainable income while preserving traditional skills that have long been overlooked. The initiative supports financial independence and promotes eco-friendly alternatives to plastic.
The second initiative addresses healthcare access through the introduction of telemedicine services. In remote regions where families often travel for days to reach medical care, this system allows households to consult doctors and access basic healthcare remotely. As Luna emphasizes, health should never be determined by geography.
Education and child welfare form the third pillar of the project. In a government school serving historically marginalized communities, 65 children currently share only two toilets, with no library or learning resources available. The initiative aims to build proper sanitation facilities and establish a small library, ensuring that education takes place in a safe, dignified, and inspiring environment.
“These initiatives are threads of one story,” Luna explains. “Women earning, families staying healthy, and children finally being allowed to dream.”
At its core, the project seeks to restore dignity where it has been denied for generations. By combining income generation, healthcare access, and educational infrastructure, Luna Luitel’s Beauty With a Purpose work demonstrates that when communities receive the right support, they rise on their own.
