Janka Végvári takes part as VIP guest in the opening of the legendary Budapest–Bamako Rally, one of the world’s great transcontinental adventures

Janka Vegvári, Miss World Hungary, was among the VIP guests at the official kick-off of the Budapest–Bamako Rally, one of the world’s largest amateur car rallies and a long-running cross-continental adventure connecting Europe to Africa.

Held annually for more than two decades, the Budapest–Bamako Rally is not a conventional race. Instead, it is known as an endurance journey and cultural expedition, bringing together participants from across the globe who travel by car from Hungary to West Africa, forging connections along the way and supporting humanitarian initiatives in the regions they pass through.

At the opening ceremony, Vegvári took part in the symbolic torch-lighting, officially marking the start of the rally. The moment underscored the event’s spirit of unity, exploration, and shared purpose, values closely aligned with the Miss World ethos of cultural exchange and global understanding.

Participants, including teams arriving from countries as far as Poland and beyond, will now embark on a demanding yet meaningful journey southward, focused on adventure, community, and lasting memories rather than speed or competition.

As a VIP guest, Miss World Hungary wished the teams a safe journey and encouraged them to look after one another while embracing every moment of the road ahead, as the Budapest–Bamako Rally once again sets off on its remarkable transcontinental route.
