Opal Suchata and Hasset Dereje Celebrate Tanzanian Fashion Talent

As part of their official visit to Tanzania, Miss World 2025, Opal Suchata, and Miss World Africa, Hasset Dereje, made a memorable stop at Annacollections Fashion Academy (AFA) in Sinza. The two representatives were greeted with warmth and excitement by students and staff, who celebrated their arrival as a moment of inspiration and encouragement.
The visit was part of the Royal Tour campaign, an initiative that spotlights Tanzania’s cultural and creative industries on a global stage. At AFA, Opal and Hasset were presented with handcrafted pieces created by the academy’s students and took time to meet and encourage the young designers.
The academy described the visit as transformative:

“Their presence and words profoundly motivated our aspiring designers, leaving a lasting impact. This memorable day sparked countless new dreams and possibilities within our academy. We are incredibly grateful for their time and encouragement.”
The heartfelt exchange perfectly aligns with AFA’s mission to nurture innovative design and craftsmanship, celebrate local and international talent, and create opportunities for Tanzania’s next generation of fashion leaders. Both Miss World and Miss World Africa praised the high quality of the work on display and expressed admiration for the academy’s dedication to preserving Tanzanian heritage through fashion.
Dr. Kedmon Mapana of BASATA, who accompanied the delegation, emphasized the importance of such visits in giving Tanzanian creativity global recognition. Anna, founder of AFA, echoed this sentiment, expressing her hopes for future collaborations with the Miss World Organization.

The visit concluded in true Tanzanian style, with live music, traditional dance performances, and an atmosphere of celebration that showcased the vibrant cultural spirit of the nation. Students from across Tanzania and other countries joined in, marking the day as one of shared creativity, culture, and global connection.
