“I Wanted to Live My Life”: Cancer Survivor Carly Wilson, 23, Becomes Miss Northern Ireland 2025

Carly Wilson, a 23-year-old student from Rathfriland, has been officially crowned Miss Northern Ireland 2025 in a glittering gala held at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. The event brought together 25 accomplished finalists, with Carly emerging as the winner thanks to her intelligence, authenticity, and remarkable personal journey.
A student at Ulster University, Carly also received the prestigious Beauty With a Purpose award during the national final. She now takes over the crown from Hannah Johns, who represented Northern Ireland with distinction at the 72nd Miss World Festival, placing in the Overall Top 10 in Europe and finishing as runner-up in the Multimedia Challenge.
Carly’s story is one of extraordinary courage and inspiration. A survivor of a rare form of cancer known as Paws-Gist, she has overcome immense challenges with strength. “I decided I wanted to live my life,” she shared, speaking about what inspired her to enter the competition. Her determination to embrace life and seek out new opportunities touched the hearts of both judges and the public.

What makes her win even more remarkable is that Carly had no prior modeling or pageant experience. Her natural charisma and heartfelt dedication shone through from the beginning. “I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me!” she said after receiving her crown.
As Miss Northern Ireland 2025, Carly will receive an exciting prize package that includes a year-long modeling contract with ACA Models, an all-expenses-paid trip to the 73rd Miss World Festival in 2026, beauty treatments, a smile makeover, and more.

The competition also celebrated two outstanding runner-ups: 17-year-old Amelie Moore, who placed second, and 18-year-old Tillie Doran, who placed third.
Carly Wilson now joins a proud tradition of Northern Irish representatives at Miss World next year. Her story is a testament to resilience, hope, and the beauty of purpose, a journey from cancer survivor to titleholder that will inspire many around the globe.
