β€οΈ BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE (BWAP)
One of the most important components of Miss World is Beauty With a Purpose β a concept that lies at the very heart of the competition.
Founded by Julia Morley in 1972, BWAP goes beyond physical beauty by recognising women who use their platform to make a meaningful difference in society and serve communities in need.
Each contestant presents a long-term social impact project designed to address an important issue in her country.
The BWAP winners receive a significant advantage in the competition, including pathways to the Top 40 and Top 6, while their projects can also receive financial support to further their social impact.
π PRATHIBHA LIYANARACHCHI β SRI LANKA π±π°
At the 73rd Miss World competition, numerous inspiring projects have been presented across the different regions. Among them, Miss Sri Lanka Prathibha Liyanarachchi's Beauty With a Purpose project is especially meaningful to Sri Lanka.
A graduate in Fashion Design from the University of Moratuwa and a creative entrepreneur, Prathibha has chosen a powerful cause centred around preserving Sri Lanka's traditional handicrafts and empowering rural women.
Her project's main objective is to protect Sri Lanka's traditional handicrafts and indigenous craftsmanship while creating opportunities for rural women artisans to access modern markets and build sustainable livelihoods.
π±π°β¨ This meaningful initiative has already created history, with Prathibha Liyanarachchi becoming the first Sri Lankan to be selected among the Top 6 in the Asia & Oceania regional BWAP selection.
The overall BWAP winner and the regional winners are scheduled to be announced during the Grand Finale.
π As the world's most talented, intelligent and inspiring young women compete for the prestigious crown, the question remains:
Who will be crowned the 73rd Miss World?
In the coming hours, the world will find out.
π±π°β€οΈ Our heartfelt wishes and prayers are with Miss Sri Lanka Prathibha Liyanarachchi.
May she continue to make Sri Lanka proud and bring the Miss World crown to Sri Lanka! ππ±π°β¨
Go Prathibha! π±π°β€οΈ
Sri Lanka is behind you! π
