My National Costume Miss World 72nd Edition Representing Botswana with Pride “The Spirit of My People” 🇧🇼✨ Stepping onto the Miss World stage in this national costume is one of the greatest honors of my journey. Every detail woven into this masterpiece tells the story of my beloved homeland Botswana. At the heart of the design are the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo animals that represent the wild beauty, strength, and pride of Africa. Behind them, the traditional tatana (Botswana handmade basket) honors the women who have, for generations, passed down their artistry and spirit through intricate weaving. These baskets remind me of my roots and the quiet power of creation and tradition. The dramatic flares at my waist are shaped like the ears of the African elephant, one of Botswana’s treasures. They symbolize wisdom, strength, and harmony values I hold close as a daughter of this land. The shimmering beadwork across my bodice reflects the diamonds beneath our soil, a tribute to the beauty, potential, and richness that lies within Botswana and her people. The skirt draws inspiration from makgabe, a garment once worn by girls as they came of age. It connects me to the women who came before me strong, graceful, and grounded. Its layers speak to generations of wisdom, resilience, and culture. Flowing from my legs are accents inspired by the phathisi dance of the Bakwena people a celebration of rhythm, unity, and our performing arts. It’s a powerful reminder that our traditions live on through movement, song, and joy. This look is more than a costume. It is a tribute. It is legacy. It is me. With every step, I carry Botswana in my heart her wildlife, her women, her wisdom, and her wonder.
