Anudi Gunasekara, who has dedicated her "Beauty with a Purpose" project to addressing period poverty in Sri Lanka. Her initiative is called "Saheli." The "Saheli" project aims to: Improve menstrual health and hygiene - for underprivileged women and girls across Sri Lanka. Provide essential products - , primarily disposable sanitary napkins, and promote sustainable alternatives like reusable pads and menstrual cups. Break stigmas - surrounding menstruation through customized awareness programs in various communities, including schools, children's homes, prisons, workplaces, postpartum centers, and monasteries. Include men as allies -by offering dedicated educational sessions to build understanding and dismantle stigma. Improve sanitation facilities - to ensure access to clean water and washrooms. Advocate for policy changes - most notably working to reduce or repeal taxes on menstrual products in Sri Lanka. Anudi has even met with the Prime Minister to discuss this urgent need for menstrual equity. Her efforts through Saheli have already reached nearly 10,000 girls and women across the country, supported by organizations like Rotary, Lions, and Leo Clubs, hospitals, prisons, and NGOs. She plans to continue expanding Saheli's impact globally and ensure its sustainability beyond her reign as Miss World Sri Lanka.
